Carl Allegretti is the Midwest Regional Tax Managing Partner and Clients & Markets Leader for Deloitte Tax LLP, the Clients & Markets Leader of the Global Tax Executive group, a member of the U.S. Board of Directors for Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, a member of the U.S. Tax Executive Group (TEG), and a board member of Deloitte Tax LLP. Under Allegretti's leadership, Deloitte's Midwest Tax Practice has emerged as the largest in the Midwest , holding the number one market position in Illinois , Minnesota , Iowa , Nebraska , and Wisconsin . With the support of his leadership team, comprised of 30 percent women (the highest of any practice in the country), the Midwest practice has experienced double-digit growth over the past two years. The projected three year revenue for the Midwest Practice is expected to reach $300 million by 2010.
Prior to Deloitte, Allegretti spent nearly 20 years with Arthur Andersen. During that time, he led the Chicago office middle market tax practice, the federal business tax practice for Chicago and Indianapolis , and also served as the co-leader of the tax practice private equity group.
A champion of mid-sized private companies, Allegretti personally works with executives from Reyes Holdings, Martin Brower, Sargent & Lundy, and Medline, to name just a few of the premier privately held U.S. clients who rely on Deloitte Tax as their trusted advisor. Reyes Holdings, Martin Brower, and Medline are all multi-billion dollar enterprises and are in the top 100 privately held companies in the U.S. Additionally, Deloitte's Midwest Tax team works with 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies in Chicago .
Allegretti has distinguished himself as a leader within the Chicagoland business community, and has been named to the prestigious Crain's Chicago Business list of "Who's Who In Chicago Business" for the past three years. Allegretti is active with numerous professional and civic organizations. He currently serves as the Treasurer of The Chicago Public Library Foundation and sits on the board of The Chicago Boys & Girls Club. He is the former Chairman of the Illinois Special Olympics, and a former board member of United Cerebral Palsy. He is also active in Deloitte's Community Involvement initiatives, having served as the 2006 Deloitte IMPACT Day Midwest Leadership Partner. He is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Business Forum, the Illinois CPA Society, and the American Institute of CPA's (AICPA). He received his Bachelor of Science from Butler University in Indiana .
Allegretti's other outside affiliations are reflective of his commitment to youth, family, and athletics. He is the president and founder of the Frankfort Youth Athletic Association, an organization whose goal is to develop a strong foundation in the fundamentals of athletics, and foster the importance of good sportsmanship, a positive attitude and respect for all participants. Allegretti also served for four years as the Treasurer of the Frankfort Boys Baseball League. His unwavering support of his sons' (Joey, 15, and Nick, 11) athletic endeavors were recently noticed by the Illinois Fatherhood Initiative (IFI), who recognized him as one of the 2006 IFI/Ricky Birdsong award finalists, an award intended to recognize men who are good fathers and have reached out and made a difference in the lives of youth.
An avid athlete and former collegiate football player, Allegretti regularly organizes members of the Deloitte Midwest Tax team to participate in running events in the Chicagoland area, and he has successfully completed 63 marathons and two ultra marathons.
